Carter is 2!!!
I can't believe it my little boy is 2!! He turned 2 on Wednesday. We had a nice chili and corn bread dinner. Then we had cake and ice cream along with his gifts. He had a wonderful little birthday at home. I am hoping that next year we will be closer to all of our family and will be able to have a party for him. I will try to post the pictures a little later tonight. I have to upload them to my computer first.

No more Facebook!!
So I have been toying with the idea of getting rid of my Facebook for a while now. I feel like all I do is get on to see what people are up to. I am tired of being disconnected from my family and friends. With that being said I guess I will be blogging a lot more. I will need something to keep me half occupied. I will now be able to actually work on my scrapbooks. There are so many little projects that I want to do but I spend my time on Facebook instead. Can't wait to see how many things I will be able to get done now!!

Cheesecake and Tater Tots?!?! HMMM
OK so recently we went home for Thanksgiving. We had bunches of fun seeing all of our family and it made me really miss living closer to them. Hopefully sooner or later we will be able to go back south. Anyways for Thanksgiving I decided to take a desert to my parents. I took Sopapilla Cheesecake. Everyone seemed to LOVE IT!! Brandon loves it the next morning with his coffee. Since everyone seemed to love it so much I thought I would share my recipe. So here it is!!
Sopapilla Cheesecake
2 cans of crescent rolls (I like the grands butter flavor)
2 packages cream cheese softened
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup melted butter
cinnamon
extra powdered sugar for sprinkling on top
In a greased 9 x 13 pan roll out one package of the crescent rolls. Mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla. Put that on the crescent roll and smooth out as much as possible. Put the next roll of crescent rolls on top. I like to brush on the butter in a nice even coat and then sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake on 350 for about 30 min. Every one's oven is different so you will just have to check on it. The rolls on top should be done and not gooey. When it is done and cooled some sprinkle on some powdered sugar.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving my sister in law got married (she married my cousin)! She asked me to make one of her favorite casseroles. It is Tater Tot Casserole. YUMMMM is all I have to say. We love this dish in our house. What ever is left over always goes in a tortilla the next morning. That also seemed to be a big hit so I want to share that one as well.
Tator Tot Casserole
1 package of tater tots. (I like the Ore-Ida ones)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
3 cups of cheddar cheese
12 oz sour cream
Preheat oven to 350. Mix tator tots, cream or mushroom soup, sour cream and one cup of cheese. Poor into a 9x13 greased pan. Cover with foil and bake for about an hour. Every one's ovens are different so please check on it during the cooking. You want it to be bubbling in the center. The last 10 min of cooking put the remaining 2 cups of cheese on it.
I have been trying to make different things lately so when I find good recipes I will share them with you guys. Hope you guys enjoy these two for now!!!

CANNING
I remember as a kid my Great Grandparents canning their own pickles. I am sure they canned other things but I remember the pickles...maybe it's because I LOVE pickles. Because of this I have always wanted to try my hand at canning.
About a year ago I came across this website that fresh produce for super cheap. I always wanted to try it out but was a little sceptical.
The website is http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/. For $15 you get a conventional basket that is fruits and vegetables. When they say basket, they mean basket. It is the white round laundry basket, one full of fruit and one full of vegetables. They also have bread, cookies (at certain times of the year), pumpkins for Halloween, and then extra add on packs. The bread, cookies, pumpkins, and extra packs range from about $8.50 to around $15.00 or more.
The first time I tried it was in late August. They had a Mexican add on pack. The extra pack came with 3 avocados, cilantro, 2 onions, 6 jalapenos, 4 green chilies, tomotillo's, and a bunch of limes. All of that was $8.50. I couldn't go to the store and buy that for that price. We LOVED IT!!
So I started to watch the website for the extra packs. Then about 2 weeks ago they had a 25 LB box of tomato's for $13. HELLO can we say GREAT DEAL!! I was SOLD. They also had an Italian pack that came with fresh herbs. I bought a box and later told Brandon that we were going to try canning. He loves to make hot sauce and I like to make my own spaghetti sauce. So we spent one Saturday making hot sauce and spaghetti sauce then canning it all. I have never made spaghetti sauce with all fresh ingredients. Everything that Saturday was a first for me.
Last night we tried our spaghetti sauce and we LOVED IT!! I think this is something that I will continue to do.

Lot's of catching up to do!
OK...OK...I know I said I was going to keep up this blog thing.....but I haven't. So now I will catch everyone up on whats going on.
Lyla is now in 2nd Grade and doing great. She likes her teacher and likes the school that is going to. Her first report card was good. She only had one C and it was a high C! I am very proud of her!!! She is in a Dance Club after school on Wednesdays. They will have performances through out the year. When ever she has a performance I will TRY to post a video so that everyone can see.
Carter is doing good as well. He is growing like a weed! He will be 2 next month. My oh my where has the time gone. Right now he loves to play with cars. He will bring his bucket of cars to the living room and push them around for hours. He is making little car sounds when he does it. It is so CUTE!!!
Brandon is working as usual. Over the summer he went to Oklahoma for 3 weeks. While he was there the kids and I went for a long weekend. Schlumberger opened the new shop here in Denton. So now his drive to work is shorter. The new shop is BIG!!! They have already doubled the amount of guys that work there. By next year they are wanting to have at least 200-300 guys!! It is crazy.
As for me I have been busy with several different things. I meet one of the other Schlumberger wives and we have started the "Schlumberger Spouses Association"! We started in August and things got a little crazy with it. We are on a little break for the holidays and will start back up in January. We started it so that we can meet other wives and be a great support system for each other and our husbands with their demanding jobs. Most of the new guys that have been hired have to go through all the training that Brandon has already gone through. I am so glad that Brandon is pretty much done with his training. I hate when he has to leave....so I know how the wives feel.
Well..I guess that is everything in a nut shell. I have several more post that I will work on the next couple of days. Just some things that we have done and things I want to do. So check back in the next couple of days and let me know what you think.

What to do, What to do?!?!
Well....it is just Brandon, Carter and my self for the next couple of weeks. Lyla is spending the summer with her Nana, Po Po and Jo Jo in Victoria. I am sure she will have lots of fun. As for us......who knows what we will do. There so many things that I would like to do but want to have Lyla here to do them with.
When Lyla gets back she will be going to swim lessons. She is 7 and still can not swim....with out her life jacket. I have tried time and time again to show her but she is scared. I think having her in swim lessons with other kids she will do great. I really hope it gives her the confidence she needs. After that I there are so many other classes I want her to take. We will just have to see which ones she can do before school starts back up again.
Carter has made a small milestone. He is now saying and waving Bye Bye. It is so cute. He is also saying night night. He knows what it means and doesn't really like it. The other night I told him night night and he went to his room and looked at his crib. I think he must have been really tired that night.

Getting my crative juices flowing!!!
Ok so I have been wanting to make some things for the kids and I finally did it. I also had a pillow to fix for my neighbor. Last night I go all my craft projects together. I fixed the pillow first. It was any easy fix. After that I made a cover for my Nook, made a crayon roll for Lyla, a car roll for Carter and fixed a shirt that had broke. Everything turned out great!!
Since Sunday I had also been working on an Armoire. I bought off craigslist for $100. Brandon and Lyla drove to Waxahachie to get it. When he returned with it I realized it needed some work. So I started to sand it then and worked on it again on Monday and FINALLY finished it today! It looks awesome and I so proud of the job I did. Here are some pictures of every thing I have done.
Starting out with every thing all together.

Time to BLOG!!
Ok so I know I said I would blog but I just haven't had anything to blog about. I never know what to say. So I guess we will just start with what is going on in our lives. Here it goes! Lyla is out of school for the summer! I can't believe that I now will have a second grader. Where does the time go? In about two weeks she will be going to Victoria to see her grandparents. It will just Carter, Brandon and I for a month. I will continue to babysit Haven. She has become my other kid.
Other things I plan on blogging about are the things I make and the ideas I come up with. So I hope all of you keep checking back. It might take me some time to get used to this so please hang in there. I will try to blog next week about some things I am going to make for the kids. I want to make Lyla a crayon role and Carter a car role. Something that will be easy to take in the car on trips.
As for now I better get back to the kids before I dont have house left.
